I graduated with a B.S. in English Education and Theatre Education from BYU-Idaho in 2005
I then moved to Las Vegas, NV and got my first teaching job at Sierra Vista High School where I taught for three years. I taught English 9, Theatre 1, and Speech 1.
After doing my time in Nevada, I finally was able to move back home to Arvada, CO and got my dream job at Pomona High School, the school I attended.
Upon arriving in Colorado I started working on my Masters Degree and graduated from Denver University with a Masters of Liberal Studies in Creative Writing in 2010.
I taught at Pomona for three years and worked with a variety of classes: English 9, English 10, English 11, PAH English 9, All Boys English 9 (which I piloted), and Read 180. I was also co-sponser for Write Club and co-publisher for Analecta (Pomona's Literary Magazine) for two years. And finally, I was Freshman Team Leader for one year.
I left Pomona for a year (a descision that I now regret) to try a teaching position at Arapahoe High School in Littleton, CO. There I taught English 10 (including an All Boys English 10), Science Fiction, and Creative Writing.
But now Allen's back! This year I have returned to Pomona (sure to be one of the best descisions of my life). I had to because I bleed black and it was awkward walking around with all those warriors at Arapahoe! And this year I am teaching English 9, Read 180, and AP Literature and Composition.
I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife Amy, our adorable five-year-old son, Cayden, and our new baby girl. I love writing, gaming, and comic books.
